This sighting took us completely by surprise, at roughly 8:30 am we were talking about how nocturnal animals are so difficult to see after daybreak, but not impossible to see when all of a sudden we saw a big ball of black fur running in the grassland ahead of us - It was the sloth bear! We had a good view, with even enough time to take a few pictures!...

The eastern boundary of Pashan Garh is steaming with activity of animals. After the recent camera trap captures of leopard and hyena, the latest capture is of a Four Horned Antelope or Chowsingha. This antelope gets its name literally from the presence of four horns, probably the only one of its kind. This antelope is very timid and mostly...

It's not every day one sees the tiger walking out in the open grasslands. This is what happened during an evening game drive, which we were to find out, had something else in store for us. When we reached the grasslands, this tigress was near a waterhole. She started stalking some Barasingha (Swamp Deer) nearby. Seeing the tiger, the...

The camera trap has proven very effective to record the movement of animals on the Pashan Garh property in the Panna National Park . After numerous records of leopard, this is the first photographic record of a hyena in over 2 years on the property. Now the anticipation intensifies for a glimpse of a sloth bear!

En route to exiting the park from our evening game drive, we saw another tourist vehicle waving at us. Excited we quickly diverted our route, as this was also a know territory of a leopard which is often sighted sitting on its favorite rock. As we got closer we were gladly surprised to see a large python moving very slowly on the side of the road. The...

Feeding on a chital, we spotterd this tiger and had an opportunity to watch it feed for a short time. While the branches may have hindered the view to some extent, it gave me the opportunity to focus on the eyes and forehead of this beautiful animal.

Winter is breeding season for a number of species of deer, including the Sambar. Samabr males are majestic fellows with large antlers. In order to attract the doe, a sambar male will usually urinate and wallow in it to give off a scent. We came upon one such male at a muddy ditch. He wallowed, oblivious to us, much to the delight of some little guests...

A large male tiger came in to view at the end of the road and walked toward the vehicle. It then veered off and walked across to a water hole. Before drinking it lay down and yawned twice. After drinking it walked over to some overhanging foliage and spray marked it before heading off.

As we turned around a bend in a thick part of the park, we saw a peacock honking and running for dear life, as a hawk eagle flew very low over it. The peacock then hid in a thick bush, and the eagle perched on a branch right above the bush. Several times he swooped down and peaked into the bush. We were completely involved in watching the events...

Whilst driving around the jungles, the naturalists have an opportunity to witness unusual animal behaviour, help track tiger movements, documenting all. Just like in the other lodges, even at Kanha National Park , the naturalists are a reliable source of information for the the Forest Department, identifying tigers and their movements /...
