Sheltering below the plunging walls of the Great Rift Valley lies the quintessentially serene Lake Manyara Tented Camp, tucked in an evergreen forest on bird-rich Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park is where Ernest Hemingway camped on the hunting safari that inspired his book, Green Hills of Africa.
JUST ONE RAIN
After some months of dry season this year, Lake Manyara was almost completely dry. Most of the flamingos moved to other nearby alkaline lakes. But just like miracles, after it had rained, the lake is no longer greyish from all the dry soil but a pink cloud of flamingos that is all over the lake with nice calls in a background from every corner. It’s very beautiful!
