Kenya Wildlife
Kenya is the safari capital of East Africa - especially during the annual Great Migration, round about July. This seasonal event depends largely on the rains, when up to two million wildebeest and zebra - with predators in tow - migrate across the East African plains in search of better grazing. This spectacular wildlife event is a highlight on the tourism calendar. |

kichwa rangers were out early in the morning trying to find the young female rhino which has an injury on the upper lips that was needed to be sorted out. In the process we found the older female with a calf that is only two days old. They are doing fantastic. We later on found the injured one and it was sorted out.

We were pushing the envelope of our permissible daylight hours... but we had spotted the large leopard female in the last light as she emerged from the thicket into the semi scrub and grassland beside the Mara River. She cautiously worked her way to the top of a Termite mound and lay down. Soon a warthog female and two yearlings approached her position....

We went out on a drive in the evening at the Kichwa concession close to the airstrip. On the top of one of the Balanites tree we found a young Topi hanged up on a branch. We drove around but could,nt find the killer and so we decided to go back to the camp and come at night. WE left the camp at nine oclock and drove straight to the tree where the kill...

I was on a game drive along the Mara river and i stopped to watch the hippos when suddenly a huge African fish eagle flew passed our jeep and into the river grabbing a big nile perch. The weight of the fish seemed to overwhelmed the eagle but amazingly it managed to fly with it up on to the tree.

I was in the morning game drive along the Mara bridge road when i came across five male lions and two female. The five males sorrounded a solitary buffalo. One of them jumped on the back of the buffalo,s back while the other four attacked the buffalo from all direction. It was an amazing site as the lions struggled to pull down the buffalo. The grawling of...

It is a beautiful site to see the widow birds once again in thier breeding plumage. It is not normal to see them this time of year because its usually dry month but due to the rain and plenty of red oat grass with seeds the widow birds are just having good times.

It was so suprising to find a hippo grassing comfortably in the middle of a huge number of bufflaloes. The huge male hippo had scraches all over the body, due to fighting with other males over territories. But the a mazing thing was,the hippo seen a way from the river during day time. This was unusual since hippos only walk miles a way from the river at night...

What an incredible thing to find lionesses having cubs at same time.Suprisingly we spotted them once but later disappeared for some time. All that time we could only see lionesses hunting and we thought the were eaten since they have a lot of enemies while still young.Recently we saw them with the cubs.Just hiding the cubs in the bushes.Cleaver mums.
