Kirkman's Kamp
Kirkman's Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness and the Sabi Sand River, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920's Kirkmans Kamp celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead.

After a long time waiting we have finally seen the new members of the Salati prdie. We have been waiting in long anticipation to see the cubs. We first noticed that two females from the pride where pregnant. They soon where absent from the rest of the pride and we new that they must have cubs. It took us three months before this day arrived, but it was...

Nearing the end of a wonderful morning game drive, Steph & Japhet tracked & found a rhino! Whilst enjoying the sighting, to our delight, a male leopard wandered past! What became even more unbelievable was the female who emerged out of the undergrowth with him! Then, before our eyes...a mating! AND, not just once! We were privileged to watch them for...

We were privileged to watch these leopard for nearly an hour as they wandered...mated, courted...mated, relaxed...mated - seemingly totally oblivious to our presence!

Very still & camouflaged, meant a lucky sighting of this beautiful specimen.

What an evening, we just watched over a hundred elephants bathing in the sand river. As we went around to the road, young and old crossed right in front of us playing with each other. Then we carried on and stopped at the oldest tree around Kirkman’s Kamp. A sycamore fig tree (ficus sycomorus), estimated to be about 650 years old. We had a look at the...

February is suppost to be our heaviest rainfall month of the year and yet this february we have had no rain at all. Everything on the reserve was extremely dry and the water level of the Sand River very low. As we set of on game drive yesterday afternoon the clowds where getting very dark and it looked like rain. This morning at around two it finally came...

Everything on the reserve was still wet after last nights rain when we came across a little animal that was foraging in the high grass. As we looked at it carefully we identified it as a honey badger. Wow. He came out of the long grass into short grass smelling around and foraging for something. He was wet and the top white stripe was dark with mud ftom...
