Open this sighting to see more photos.....With breakfast and lunch packed, we set out for a whole day game drive. An amazing morning drive led us to the banks of the Mara river at around 11 am. As we arrived, there were about 500 wildebeest gathering on the banks. We waited for a while and eventually one Gnu got brave and crossed half way and we...

We went out on a full day drive to the Mara river through the Serengeti National park. We left early in the morning and arrived at the river at about 10am. We were in contact with the other rangers and they told us that there was a crossing close to where we were. We got there quickly and it was an amazing crossing of about 500 wildebeest. We then...

We were out on an amazing afternoon drive when we came across a fresh water stream that runs into the lake. There were thousands and thousands of birds as far as the eye could see. There were Pelicans, Flamingos, Yellow Billed Storks, Marabou Storks and the storks were fishing in this fresh water stream. It was an amazing sighting to see all these...

We were driving through the forest when we saw a huge cloud of dust. Through the dust we saw these two bull elephants fighting and started snapping away. They carried on fighting for about ten minutes, crashing their tusks and using all their energy that they had. Unfortunately, they moved into the thick bush where we could not see them anymore, so we...

While driving through the amazing forest at Lake Manyara National Park, you often hear the calls of the Black and White Casqued Hornbills and today was our lucky day to see this male and female quite close to the road. We had a great view of them and took some nice photos.

We were looking for the ever elusive Leopard in trees when all of a sudden I spotted a Verreaux's Eagle-Owl in a tree. We backed up to get a closer look and on inspection, we noticed a hedgehog in its tallons. We dont know when it caught the spiny little creature but it was great to see the Owl in broad daylight.

Generally Hyeanas are nocturnal animals but in the Masai Mara you often see them in the middle of the day. As they are not used to the heat at that time, they often lie in mud pools to cool themselves off like this one in the photo. There had been a carcass that it had been feeding on and it was just resting before heading to its den.

We were on our way to the marsh area when we came across this Black Backed Jackal all by itself. Generally they are found in pairs as they mate for life, so it was quite unusual to see this one by itself. As we sat very quietly, it came closer to the vehicle to see what we were, very inquisitive little animal.

We were watching this beautiful male lion lying under a tree looking so strong and fierce when suddenly flies started to irritate him. He did not look so fierce when tiny little flies got the better of him.

While driving through the Masai Mara, you often come across antelopes standing on termite mounds for long periods of time. Strange to some, but for the Topi antelope, this is normal when you have to show that this is your territory and other males better stay away!
