LEOPARD DREAMS
On our first afternoon game drive accompanied by four guests, we came across a breeding herd of elephants about half an hour from the airstrip. The elephants were enjoying a late afternoon drink and wallowing in the mud in the afternoon sun. It was a great experience particularly watching the young ones having a great time rolling in the mud and spraying themselves with water. The following morning we watched a female leopard hunting. She was not successful but watching her stalking was an unforgettable experience and we stayed with her for some time until she retreated up a tree. A few days laters our guests were amazed by seeing two different leopards. As leopards were top of their list, it was a dream come true. We started our drive birding, and as soon as we heard the alarm calls from the hornbills and starlings we made our way towards them. We found the first leopard resting in the shade at the bottom of a tree, and the second one lying up in the tree straddled over a branch. We ended our trip with a magnificent male lion enjoying the early morning sun.
