Kirkman's Kamp

Kirkman's Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness and the Sabi Sand River, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920's Kirkmans Kamp celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead.

LEOPARD HIERARCHY

Having been at Kirkman's Kamp a couple of years now, one starts to identify individual animals through their spot patterns, and there territories. When I started at Kirkman's this particular leopard was young, with little experience, and kept a low profile. With age comes experience and 2 years down the road, she has become Kirkman's Kamp's finest. Having over thrown the older, weaker female before her time, she now holds the top spot in the heart of the property. Having watched her work up through the ranks, one gets a warm feeling, knowing that she has made it to the top spot. We are all hoping that she has her first set of cubs soon.
