Leopard kills and hoists baby Impala
On the evening of the 23rd Dec we were watching a group of sleepy Lions, suddenly we heard Impalas giving alarm calls not too far away from us, we left the Lions and went to investigate, after searching for a few minutes we found a young female Leopard dragging a young Impala that she had just caught towards a Marula tree, the Leopard got to the base of the tree and after scanning the area she proceeded to hoist the kill, in one effortless moment she jumped into the tree with her kill, the Leopard didn’t start feeding but sat in the tree scanning the area to check if the distress call and the alarm calls of the Impalas had attracted any other predators. After about 5 minutes the Leopard suddenly got very nervous and climbed down the tree and quickly ran off, we then saw that the pride of Lions had come to investigate all the Alarm calls and the Leopard didn’t want to get trapped in the tree.
