LEOPARDS!
Kirkman’s Kamp is renowned for its leopard viewing and as a ranger, this is one of the most exciting prospects of going to work. I get to spend quality time with these mysterious cats. Before arriving at Kirkman’s, I had spent many weekends and school holidays in the bush. I visited most of the national parks in the country, camping, hiking and fishing in areas that had leopards. I would regularly find their tracks, but very seldom see the most elusive of the big five. In fact before working here, I had only seen 4 leopards in my life! Yesterday the Kirkman’s Kamp ranging team (6 rangers) managed to find 9 different leopards! Needless to say, last night the bar was full of laughter and "you should have seen this leopard…" answered by "well we saw a different leopard and it was doing …"
