LIFE STARTING.........

During the morning game drive North of Massira Hill about two kilometer from Grumeti Serengeti tented Camp we come across a pair of Lions. They have split from their old pride and created a new pride. Previously their pride consisted of 14 lions in one group, 3 males, 4 females and 7 juvenile cabs who are almost a year and half old. The old males where chased out a year ago. When we arrived at the sighting we saw the Male lion looking very tired as a result of mating. This is due to lions usually mating for 5 to 7 days as well as not eating during this period. After almost twenty minutes the lionesses stood up and touched the male and encouraged him to mate again. We witnessed the beginning of a new life in the bush and the ending of the mating ritual. As we drove back to camp, we contemplated the lions and their continued struggle for survival from generation to generation.
