Lionesses kill for 8 hungry cubs..
So far the morning drive was fairly quiet... we were following up on a report of three lionesses, and had no luck so we decided to stop for a break on top of fort dam lookout. as everyone was having thier hot chocolates and coffees i was scanning the sorroundings and spotted the three lionesses quite a distance away..they were hunting! we downed our drinks and got round to the area as quick as we could.. we got to an elevated position and watched it unfold in front of our eyes.. one lioness spotted the warthogs and started stalking. we lost her in the thicket for a short while until she shot out on the far side in full sprint, warthogs running every where. with the help of one of the other lionesses who cut the warthog off from one side, they managed to secure one! while one lioness was killing the hog the other went off to fetch the cubs. we decided to follow her and were rewarded when, after calling for them, the cubs came bounding across the road in front of us and climbed into mom with excitement. they followed her for a short distance until she introduced them to their meal for the morning. from start to finish, a brilliant sighting!
