Madikwe
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

LIONS, LIONS, LIONS
The morning started with a request to see Lion, so with an idea on where to look we left the lodge. We where not even 200m out when a lioness walked across the road and a minute later followed by her two 10 week old cubs and another female lion. We had a brief view as they moved off into a thicket, so we looped around to try and find them again and with a bit of luck found them. The two cubs where playing on a pile of dirt while the females rested. They then attacked eachother any anything else that moved including mom. they then got up and headed down the road, playing with elephant dung and anything else they could find.
We then went in search of Male lions, we found one of the huge dominant male looking for his two younger sons, And 10 minutes after viewing him we found what he was looking for. Fast asleep in a thicket.
So 3 sightings and 8 lions was anther good day in MADIKWE...
