Lions steal a Leopards kill
The 4 male lions walked casually past our vehicle but then stopped and sniffed the air, they all suddenly changed direction and started trotting South and crossed over the river, we drove to a nearby crossing and also headed South, we realised that the lions must have smelt the Wildebeest kill that had been made by a male Leopard the previous day, we drove directly to the Wildebeest kill and waited for the Lions to arrive, a few moments later the first one arrived followed by the others a few seconds later, the Leopard must have heard something approaching and he had left before the Lions arrived, the Lions immediately started feeding and within about 10 minutes had devoured the remains of the Leopards kill, we were amazed at the sensitive smell that Lions have as it must have been a least 500 meters away that the Lions first smelt the kill.
