LOOKING FOR A CHEETAH BUT FOUND A LEOPARD INSTEAD
I was doing my assessment drive later in the afternoon and we were looking for cheetah. We were on our way to where the cheetah were last seen in the morning. We were halfway there when another ranger found a leopard not too far from were we were. We decided to stop looking for the cheetah and go for the leopard sighting instead. By the time we got there the leopard had moved into a thicket so we drove around and then stopped. After 10 minutes of waiting we saw the leopard running from the one side of the thicket to the other and we lost it! We went for a drink stop to a dam not far from where we lost the leopard and we heard nyalas alarm calling. We packed up quickly and followed up on the alarm calling. We saw the leopard again walking on the road. It was amzing watching it walk on and off the road. Other vehicles responded to the sighting and we left!
