LUCKY DAY
At this time of the year in Xaranna, we have been having foggy days with mist / dew. Today was the day that we had more than usual. This can make the landscape really beautiful especially when there is the reflection of the morning sunlight. I was just chatting with my tracker, Eliceous, that it would be difficult to see animals, but the wilderness proved us wrong as we saw some drag marks of a kill just after we crossed our bridge. There were hyena tracks following the drag marks and interestingly there were some leopard tracks too on the side, going in the other direction. We are still not sure what made the kill but we suspected the leopard. We went off the vehicle to follow the tracks and as we followed, we saw some hyena ears through the grass. They have dragged the carcass behind a termite mound on a wetland area. We were very lucky to see them as they stood there to protect their meal. We just walked back slowly to the vehicle. Our guests got a good view of them from the vehicle.
