LUCKY GENET
Coming back from drive last night, at one of our river crossings, we came across a large spotted genet that was making his way up the road. With us coming down gave him a bit of a fright ,so he casually just detoured a little bit. On this detour, however, little did he or us know for that matter, that there was a medium sized African rock python lying in the grass hunting small mammals. When the genet was nearly on top of the snake it decided to strike. The genet was too quick and managed to leap into the air and escape the jaws of the python. This did not end there! The genet then thought that this was a good meal or was just upset with the snake. Who knows for sure? It then went for the snake and after a few attempts, the genet, launching it self at the snake, the reality of the situation kicked in and the it realised that the snake was to big for it and that there was no way it was going to kill it. I must say that the genet had the courage to take on a snake that I don’t think I would mess with.
