MATETSI
We had a day of incredible sightings. We saw hyena pups, 8 of which were from 3 different mothers, if their sizes and markings were anything to go by. We then went across to Vlei and just beyond Safari Camp we saw 9 wild dogs trotting towards a large herd of approximately 80 zebra. The mares with young foals kept away and the remainder of the herd gathered themselves together to form a zebra wall between the new foals, their mothers and the wild dogs. The wild dogs entertained us for about half an hour, trotting through the water, sniffing the zebra, circling until they decided to head off into the trees. Bounty of bounties on our drive back to West Water we saw a porcupine (the next night we saw 3 together), 3 sightings of wild cat and 3 separate and very clear sightings of serval! The next day a pair of male lions added to the tally. Amazing viewing! Thank you Khetho and Kenias.
