The locations of these migratory camps are carefully plotted to coincide with the documented movements of the annual Great Migration as it traverses the Serengeti plains. Having secured some of the Serengeti’s best semi-permanent campsites, we are able to bring our Serengeti Under Canvas guests as close as possible to the migration or resident game. These campsites are all prebooked for &Beyond’s use, allowing us tremendous flexibility in moving our camps according to the expected migration movements.
Migration at its best!
Seeing the migration was a dream of mine. However, i did not realize the harsh reality of what I was about to witness. We were out one afternoon on game drive, having our sundowners at a nearby lake, when all of a sudden a huge herd of wildebeest came around the corner. They were obviously very thirsty from their journey and saw the beautiful lake. They all ran into the water, drinking as much as they could, only to find out that it was a salt water lake. It was really difficult to watch these desperate animals running through the water, trying to drink it but not being able to quench their thirst. It was amazing though to see so many of them running straight past our drink stop as the sun was setting over the Serengetti. This is the way to experience the Great Migration! A dream come true!
