Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is perched on the edge of the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater at the eastern edge of the Serengeti in northern Tanzania. It lies within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which covers more than 8 000 square kilometres (3 100 square miles) of pristine African wilderness. |
MUNGE PRIDE
We were looking for a kill today with my guests. We drove through Munge River and spotted a pride of six lionesses and a male. We drove closer and they were laying down close to the road. We watched them for a while and then suddenly a group of wildebeest and zebra came from the river. One of the lionesses saw it and moved closer to our vehicle. She started stalking for several minutes, but she wasn't able to go for it. We were still watching this sighting when suddenly two male grants gazzelles came over and moved towards the lioness without knowing that she was there. The lioness jumped on one of those grant gazzelles, but luckily enough it managed to escape. My guests were very happy to see some hunting techniques even though we didn't see a kill.
