&Beyond's Xaranna Tented Camp is situated near a permanent channel of the Okavango Delta in 25 000 hectares of pristine wilderness that is shared by only 18 guests. The Camp boasts breathtaking views of the channel, providing guests with a water and wilderness experience that combines the best of what the Okavango has to offer. Birders should watch out for the elusive Pel's fishing owl, while the endangered African wild dog and semi-aquatic red lechwe are endemic to the area.
NICE COMBINATION!
We had woken up at around 7 am to go on game drive at 8 am. It is a common belief and the saying that if you wake up late you will see less, but in Xaranna it was not the case today.
We went out and saw a pride of 6 lions following buffaloes at around 12 noon. When we were tracking the lions we even saw a hyena. Perhaps the hyena was following the lions too, hoping to get something after the kill. When we finally found the lions, they were just walking behind the buffaloes and making a few attempts to chase but the buffaloes were too clever. They did not want to run away to make it easy for the cats to single out one of them. It was incredible to see the teamwork that they displayed. When we went back to camp we saw one of these hunter birds, the secretary bird and even wattled cranes.
