No sign of Cubs
It has been nearly two weeks since we last saw the Shangwa female Leopard and her three cubs. We were so excited as we watched her lead the three cubs to an Impala kill close to River Lodge. The rangers followed up on her the next morning only to find that Hyena had stolen the kill and only the one female cub could be seen. After some time, the female returned and took the one cub and lead her off of our traversing area. We are not sure if she had already moved the other two cubs before hand. We do find it strange that the kill was not put into a tree as a similar incident a few months back resulted in this same female having both her cubs killed by hyena. Since then, there has been no sign of either the female or the three cubs.
We have however been informed of another two females that have both recently given birth as well so we can look forward to some more amazing viewing in the months to come
