Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.
our telemetry set has arrived!!
Madikwe safari lodge received a donation some time ago to buy a telemetry set. The idea is to collar and follow brown hyeanas as the first research project for brown hyeanas on the reserve. Last week our telemetry set arrived!! We are still waiting for the collars and the project will be up and running by the weekend. This is a great thing both for Brown hyeana research and the guests of Madikwe safari lodge. On Saturday we are collaring the hyenas with the help of the ecologists on Madikwe game reserve. All our guests in camp will have the opportunity to be a part of this special event. With a little bit of help and practice we will be seeing a lot more of these very special and elusive creatures!
