Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge is sheltered in a forest of wild palms and fig trees and flanked by the papyrus-rich channels of the Okavango Delta. The sensitively designed lodge witnesses the ever-changing moods of the Delta, from wintry oasis to rainy rejuvenation.
Pangolin (Scaly anteater)
On a recent night drive in the Sandibe area, guests were extremely lucky to see one of the most fascinating creatures Africa has to show us. THE PANGOLIN (Scaly Anteater) this rear and vey elusive nocturnal animal made a wonderful appearance.
These images show its face (Not commonly seen), its scales and how they roll into a ball as a defensive posture, protecting them against predation. The physical appearance of pangolins is marked by large, hardened, plate-like scales. The scales, are soft on newborn pangolins but harden as the animal matures, made of keratin, the same material which human fingernails are made up of.
