As we took our drive in Chobe National Park along the river and when approaching an area called Serondela, we came across a troop of baboons coming towards our vehicle and when this family was closer we saw a big male, carrying a two to three years old baby on his belly. After he got closer to us he pulled this baby off his belly and sat him on the ground and the baby started screaming being frightened, showing that this baby needs protections and the mother was not there, so this was a shock. We did not know what happened to the mother, but it was interesting to see how this male took care of this young one which showed a good parental care, we therefore left them alone.
I always enjoy the CC Africa website, I did a great camping trip with Mompati Aaron in September of 2004 (was it that long ago! I was part of that small group of fun-loving Canadians!) . I am so pleased to see Mompati - that you are still with CC Africa so that if I can get back to Botswana I will know where you are to take me again! Blessed are the people who get to travel with Mompati. I hope you and your lovely family are doing well.
Sincerely,
Joan McNaughton
