PIED PATIENCE

It was early one Saturday morning when we saw from a distance a couple of these pied kingfishers cocking their "spears" FOR SOME SERIOUS FISHING...

We watched them make one dive after the other, although they were too far to capture on film... After sitting for about 45 minutes and getting ready to pack up the cameras, this very accommodating bird emerged from the water after an award winning dive with a tasty morsel, and perched right in front of us to beat its prize to death! It was a massive treat and showed again how patience really does pay off in the bush!
