PUFFADDER VS. OWL & MONKEYS
The morning game drive to the Marabou pan turned out rather interesting as we watched a giant eagle owl hitting a puffadder, which looked to be about 45cm long, and left it half dead in the middle of the road. The big owl did not stay because it had been attacked by many other birds. The vervet monkeys close by made a lot of alarm calls which alerted us oth the owl's presence. The monkeys came down the trees to 'investigate' and take a look at the puffadder and after 30 minutes the owl left the site. They kept coming closer to the snake, but when it made movements all went up the tree again. We left the scene, continuing on to other places and on our way back, we wanted to check on the puffadder, but we found that it was missing!
