&BEYOND Baghvan
Baghvan is aptly named after one of India's iconic symbols, the Bengal tiger (bagh - tiger and van - forest). This enchanting lodge is located on the edge of Pench National Park, a dry deciduous forest of predominantly teak trees and meandering jungle streams.
A typical Central Indian teak jungle, Pench supports a rich variety of wildlife, including the tiger, leopard, wild dog, gaur, sambar, chital and brilliant birdlife. The Park's open habitat not only lends well to wildlife viewing, but it also offers striking views of the area's sheer beauty. This national park received international recognition from Rudyard Kipling's classic tale, the Jungle Book.

Red Dogs of Central India
An exceptaional sighting we had when i was driving my guest last season. It was a lovely morning and we were going to one of the water hole as there were reports of a group of wild dogs in that near by area. Sighting if Wild Dogs in Pench Tiger Reserve is good as there are ok sightings of wild dogs, but not more than 2 or 3 individuals. As we are about to reach to that water hole one of my guest (danger man) shouted Jackals, Jackals......... but as we go close we came to know that they were wild dogs not 1, 2, 3 but a group of 18 individuals. All are in perfect conditions. This was the first time i saw such a big group. They came on the road and close to the vehicle. Only one was according to me was juvenile. For more than 1 1/2 hours they were playing, enjoying and resting in front of the vehicle. The most noticable thing was that near by there was a troup of Langurs were on the tree but they didnt give alarm calls. The guest were on the top of the sky because they only wanted to see wild dogs............
