Baghvan
Baghvan is aptly named after one of India's iconic symbols, the Bengal tiger (bagh - tiger and van - forest). This enchanting lodge is located on the edge of Pench National Park, a dry deciduous forest of predominantly teak trees and meandering jungle streams.
A typical Central Indian teak jungle, Pench supports a rich variety of wildlife, including the tiger, leopard, wild dog, gaur, sambar, chital and brilliant birdlife. The Park's open habitat not only lends well to wildlife viewing, but it also offers striking views of the area's sheer beauty. This national park received international recognition from Rudyard Kipling's classic tale, the Jungle Book. |
RUSTY THE CAT
I was driving my guests (Rose family) who came with Hashim Tayabji a well know naturalist and wild-lifer.We were taken by surprise recently when my guest Adam Spotted the cat family's smallest member "The Rusty Spotted cat". It seems like a small jungle cat with some differences. When we checked with the binoculars, we could not believe our luck - it was a rusty spotted cat. I told my guests about the feline. The rusty-spotted cat is nocturnal and partly arboreal, and seeing it in broad daylight was quite a surprise. We were too busy looking at the feline that we completely forgot to take a picture but luckily Adam Rose (guest) was really quick at taking the photograph, so I requested him to share his photograph with us so that I can post it on Wild watch.Thank you Adam for Sharing your photograph with us.
