It has been raining here at Sandibe , which in turn has attracted a huge variety of water fowl. All the pans have filled up and the Knob-billed ducks have been delighting themselves with the rains.

This beautiful golden weaver has been constructing nests over the Sandibe guest pool. The males have an orange throat during the breeding season and it must be working because the female weaver has already chosen the nest she likes.

Two Mozambique spitting cobras were seen battling it out right in front of the dining area. They fought for over an hour, providing our guests with an amazing sighting during tea. At the end of the day, the slightly larger snake (only by about an inch or so) killed the smaller one and ate it - a little gruesome, but that is what nature is all about.

The dogs are back! The pack of wild dogs moved off in early April and made their first appearance back on the Sandibe concession in mid August. After his mother had successfully managed to secure this still born giraffe and enduring the harassment of two marauding honey badgers, this young cub almost lost his meal from falling out the tree to some waiting hyenas.
