Sandibe
Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge is sheltered in a forest of wild palms and fig trees and flanked by the papyrus-rich channels of the Okavango Delta. The sensitively designed lodge witnesses the ever-changing moods of the Delta, from wintry oasis to rainy rejuvenation. |

Afternoon tea at Sandibe became very exciting when a monitor lizard attacked a baby vervet monkey. Our guests and us were standing and enjoying tea whilst observing a troop of vervet monkeys in the boma area. One of the young monkeys strayed to the grass covered base of a nearby palm. Unexpectedly a large water monitor errupted from the grass and tumbled...

Right in front of us, a very relaxed young female leopard in a tree - on our way to camp from the airstrip - what a welcome!

It was at about 12 midday I heard a group of Arrowmarked Babblers chakling harshly right in front of the office, when I tried to go out to investigate what was going on I nearly collided with a terrified scops owl by the door which flew in to seek refuge under the office desk, the way it was breathing tells me it has been under siege for quite a while. I...

this was our first afternoon/evening drive and the leopard allowed to observe him/her in a tree for a long time. then, the animal slowly came down to a nearby spot where a freshly killed impala was laying. it dragged it to the foot of the tree and began to feed briefly, then deciding to rest some more in the tree.

We were fortunate to see this sighting 15 minutes before our flight to Nxabega. The lioness and her three cubs killed the young giraffe in the early morning hours and were having a feast. Many animals gather round the airstrip in the evenings as it is very open and they fell saver for the nights rest. But the predators also come here to hunt as they is a...

Late afternoon we stopped to look at fresh leopard tracks that went off the road into the bushes and then heard the alarm call of baboons. We went towards the baboons to see in which direction they were looking. We went in that direction to search for the leopard. Our guide Gee, informed the other guide Katenbo of the area that we were searching in....
