Sandibe
Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge is sheltered in a forest of wild palms and fig trees and flanked by the papyrus-rich channels of the Okavango Delta. The sensitively designed lodge witnesses the ever-changing moods of the Delta, from wintry oasis to rainy rejuvenation. |

The first afternoon at Sandibe it was suggested that I go out on a boat cruise and I am glad that I did. Imagine my surprise when we turned round one of the bends along the channel and something catches my eye close to the papyrus. We caught a glimpse of something diving into the water. My first reaction was that it was an African darter, and then as...

We arrived at a waterhole to find a female leopard with her cub and herds of impala and zebra. The leopard quicky tried to hide the cub but his inquisitive nature caused him to peek from behind an anthill. This gave us precious seconds to capture the moment before his mother dragged him away.

This mother and younger male gave us quite an experience over the past 2 days. After finding her with a kill, we saw interplays with giraffe, mongoose, honey badgers and finally hyena. The cub almost lost the treed carcasse to the waiting hyena as he tried to lift it from their reach.

This beautiful cheetah had not been seen in some time and so it was great to see her so relaxed that we were able to get up close for some memorable photos.

On our last morning in Sandibe, we were very lucky to follow a family of 4 cheetahs for one hour. First we could see them in a smoky area and after walking around for a while they decided to cross a flooding zone. That was amazing!

Today, within 2km of camp, our rangers had seen approximately 150 Cape buffalo, 50 Elephants and 2 Leopards in a tree. Then a further 8 km away a single Cheetah on an Impala kill! Not forgetting all the plains game and Birds, WOW. The sighting here at Sandibe have been remarkable this month, with awe inspiring sighting on a daily basis.

On a recent night drive in the Sandibe area, guests were extremely lucky to see one of the most fascinating creatures Africa has to show us. THE PANGOLIN (Scaly Anteater) this rear and vey elusive nocturnal animal made a wonderful appearance.
These images show its face (Not commonly seen), its scales and how they roll into a ball as a defensive posture,...
