Kirkman's Kamp
Kirkman's Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness and the Sabi Sand River, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920's Kirkmans Kamp celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead.

SIDE STRIPES AND BLACK BACKS
A very dark night at Kirkman’s Kamp will reveal secret sounds of all sorts of predators - A pride of lions roaring in the distance, hippos fighting down by the sand river, hyenas laughing around the lodge and the faint sawing of a leopard from the other side of the river. But tonight we picked up a different animal on our night drive. We heard a haul not too far away in one of the open areas. As we got there we spotted a side-striped jackal trotting along. The male was looking for food and as we caught up with him he stopped, looked at us for some time and then moved silently into the darkness. We unfortunately don’t see a lot of jackals around Kirkman’s Kamp, most likely because of their competition with other predators – especially hyenas. But this season we spotted a number of black-backed jackals already and now this side-striped one to top off our lucky streak.
