Madikwe Safari Lodge
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

Sighting of sound
A sighting without seeing anything is a little hard to come by. I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of laughing outside my house, the laughing of hyenas. There was a clan going mad over an unknown kill they had just made and then the bellowing came. The king of the jungle was on his way. All the excitement had attracted a pride of lions. A massive fight ensued as the lions and hyenas battled over the spoils of war. Unfortunatly the hyenas lost their kill to the lions, calm returned and the night was silent again, needless to say I could not go back to sleep after all the excitment.
