Snorkels at sunset
It was early evening and the sun was just resting on the horizon as we arrived at the watering hole. We had no guarantees but were hopeful that we might find something drinking in the last light of day. Our initial finding was that of a solitary hippo in the water and nothing else...this soon changed. A herd of elephant approached and started drinking and soon another herd arrived and joined in. One of the younger bulls was in a playfull mood and walked deep into the water and fully submerged himself with just his trunk resurfacing to take a gasp of air. Soon he was joined by another and the two playfully pushed each other around and at times all that could be seen were the two trunks breaking the surface to take a breath. More elephant arrived on the scene and soon there were over 40 elephant drinking with the two bulls still splashing around.
