Speechless
The Kullman Family was left speechless this morning after we found a pride of lions consisting of two adult females and six cubs on a wildebeest kill. Patrick and I had been with the family for three nights already and so far had had some of the best game viewing I have ever had in eight years. When we all thought it couldn’t get any better – it did!! We heard a male lion calling to the south of the camp and set out to see if we could find it. With some fantastic tracking by Patrick, great eyes by Maggie, and David’s lucky hat, we couldn’t go wrong. After nearly 20 minutes of tracking, Maggie spotted the male lions in the bush, as we drove in I said to Patrick that I was sure there was a third male and we should drive around the block to double check. The family agreed and off we went. Patrick worked his magic and all of a sudden he turned around and said he could see something under a nearby bush, as we moved in closer there was the pride with all six cubs covered in blood with another male lion on a wildebeest kill. As a second vehicle arrived he spotted a fourth male lion.
That night we returned to see the pride feeding and some very fat bellies and three jackals. The two females and six cubs decided to leave the four males who at this point were slightly scattered in the bush. After about 20 minutes of waiting all four male lions bellowed in full roar with the Jackals joining in in chorus. The family was again speechless!! What a great way to loose a “chap stick” (Stephen).
