&Beyond's Xaranna Tented Camp is situated near a permanent channel of the Okavango Delta in 25 000 hectares of pristine wilderness that is shared by only 18 guests. The Camp boasts breathtaking views of the channel, providing guests with a water and wilderness experience that combines the best of what the Okavango has to offer. Birders should watch out for the elusive Pel's fishing owl, while the endangered African wild dog and semi-aquatic red lechwe are endemic to the area.
Spotted
Myself, TJ (guide), Joseph (tracker) and 4 guests were out on foot on one of the small islands scannong the tall trees hoping to spot a Pels Fishing Owl roosting but instead we found this Spotted Gennet resting up in a fork of a tree. It watched us for a while before it lay down its head and went back to sleep. It just goes to show you never know what you may see out there.
