STRIPED HYENA OR AARDWOLF?
After breakfast today we drove to Ndutu area for the mighty Migration experience. To see these huge herds of different animals which includes; Wildebeest, Zebras, Gazelles, Elands, among others is always breathtaking. The two hours’ drive was worth every bit of it. We were lucky to find the main herd. We enjoyed the experience so much that we never wanted to leave. At around 5:00 pm we decided to drive through the big marsh plains on our way back to the lodge when we spotted this beautiful Hyena. It was so difficult to believe my own eyes as I have never seen the striped hyena before. At first she was very shy but slowly adjusted and we waited long enough to see her move around. Note very far from her den, she found the Wildebeest head that she carried in her mouth to the den. We could not be luckier. At the den she decided to just sit outside and we could hear her calling. Within no time her two babies came out. One was very shy and kept on going back into the den as soon as she was out, but one was calm and decided to join the mother. What a sight and a nice way to end the day. Without a doubt that was my highlight for the day.
