&BEYOND Madikwe
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

Sunset chaos
Yesterday Afternoon we took a slow drive to the dam hoping to get some sunset photos of elephants drinking. I also just so happened that there lions at the dam, and as you can imadgine, lions and elephants are not the best of friends. the wind changed and the elephants picked up the scent of the lions. I was very interesting to see how the elephants moved into a battle formation and collectivly went stampeeding through the bush after the lions. The lions moved off at a very rapid pace with the elephants hot on their heels. Once the lions were far enough away the ele's returned to the dam for an evening drink and we got the photos we wanted plus a whole lot more.
