THE BIG CAT HUNT
On the 20th March 2012 I had guests who were more interested in seeing cats. We had to drive all over every possible road in the Savute area, but could not find any lion tracks. We, however, did find lots of leopard tracks. On the next morning we decided to drive towards the southern part of the Savute marsh. On our way there, at a far distance, we saw lots of vultures soaring in the sky. I suggested driving towards them seeing that it was on our way through in any case. We kept going and saw many more vultures in the trees and some in the nearby bushes. I knew that there could very likely be a carcass in the area. Just a few metres before we smelt the carcass and then finally we saw five male lions feeding on a buffalo. That was a great moment for the guests since they were expecting to see these cats. Luckily we saw exactly what they wanted, the male lions. We left them feeling very excited for the next part of their journey!
