Exeter River Lodge is situated within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, renowned for having the best Big Five game-viewing in South Africa, if not the world. The Reserve is famous for its incredible leopard sightings. The Sabi Sand leopards have grown accustomed to safari vehicles, thereby permitting close up sightings and extraordinary photographic opportunities.
THE KILL
As we were coming out of the lodge during our morning safari, we turned the corner to find four male lion trying to track something down. The encounter was very close to the lodge, so we thought that they may have been stalking the people around the area. Only seconds later, as the lions split up, four buffalo came stampeding out of the bushes. Three of them escaped, but one was left as the first lion grabbed its hip and started to pull it down. Moments later, one of the other lions jumped onto the back of the buffalo, which is the scene in the picture. It was the most amazing sight and was such a privilege to see.
Stalking people? Now that is scary. Are there lions in the area that are actively stalking people? Fabulous shot - So I presume the lions did killl the buff?

About a week before you saw this scene, we watched an attempt of the same kill outside of Dulini Lodge but it wasn't successful. It was really exiting as well.
