Home Sightings India Wildlife Baghvan THREE TOP LINE PREDATORS IN ONE DRIVE……
 |
Baghvan
Baghvan is aptly named after one of India's iconic symbols, the Bengal tiger (bagh - tiger and van - forest). This enchanting lodge is located on the edge of Pench National Park, a dry deciduous forest of predominantly teak trees and meandering jungle streams.
A typical Central Indian teak jungle, Pench supports a rich variety of wildlife, including the tiger, leopard, wild dog, gaur, sambar, chital and brilliant birdlife. The Park's open habitat not only lends well to wildlife viewing, but it also offers striking views of the area's sheer beauty. This national park received international recognition from Rudyard Kipling's classic tale, the Jungle Book.

THREE TOP LINE PREDATORS IN ONE DRIVE……
This is every naturalist's dream to show his guests the three top line predators in one drive. It was a dream come true. We entered the park a little late. I was showing Nilgai (antelope). Suddenly a leopard called on the other side of the track, and also Langur distress calls started happening, We looked on the other side, the guide saw a fleeting glimpse of the elusive cat moving towards the ridge. We quickly drove a little further to check and suddenly a squirrel started giving the alarm call and we saw the leopard sitting on the rock. He got up and started moving and so we followed him for a few metres and then we came closer to the track and he was looking at us. We took a few pictures as he was posing for us before he ran across the track to the other side. My guests were very pleased to see the leopard and we drove further and after 20 minutes we saw the wild dogs. I told my guest that we can keep our fingers crossed as now we may see the tiger as well. I was also telling them about the dominant male of that area and after a while we saw him crossing the road! Indeed it was a dream come true and my guests were on cloud no 9!
