Tracking the Kill
Last night, the lion activity around the camp had ensured that very few guests got a good night sleep and by the time morning came we were eager to see what all the commotion was about. We followed tracks for both lion and buffalo, going up and down the river road opposite the camp. We were in and out of the vehicle, listening, trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Just then we heard a distant growl and drove in to get a closer look. There, in a small clearing opposite the camp was a freshly killed Buffalo Bull with five adult male lions, two lionesses and six six-month-old cubs. The two hours of tracking had paid off in the most spectacular way and we enjoyed the sights and sounds of lions feasting.
