WAOOOH! A NEW BABY GNU!!
This is Calving season for Gnu[Wildebeest] where every adult Female Wildebeest drops baby[Calf] [Syncronisation]. Normarlly starts on January especially at the end. On February almost every one has baby [calf]. Today we started our game drive from 5:45am, After eight hours game drive, on the way back to the Lodge, By the Lake Magadi[Salt water Lake], [I was already discouraged that Gnu haven't started giving birth yet.] One of my Guest MARCIA & ARTHUR [From USA Florida] sported a Gnu with hanging afterbirh and told me to drive back as everybody was tired and hungry already so ended up drive past.
Gues what!!!! It was the very new born Gnu[Wildebeest], Was still very wet, it's Mom was licking it, not yet gain it's feet, not able to suckle yet. Was just born.May be was the first born on the Crater for this year 2010! Who knows!!! I have asked few guides[Rangers] if anyone has seen new born, they sayed, NOT YET!!
We are now starting having Fantastic Sightings on the Crater Floor, Western Ngorongoro, and Eastern Serengeti. [Big Migration is there]. Lots of Predators are waiting for Wildebeest afterbirth and the easiest prey, Baby Gnu[Wildebeeste].
