Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp consists of ten delightful tents tucked away in the extraordinary Serengeti National Park - widely seen as the planet's greatest functioning ecosystem. The Grumeti River has some of the world's biggest hippos and Nile Crocodiles. During certain times of year, you have a ring-side seat for the famous great migration.
What Nature is Capable of
It is sometimes hard to believe how things work in the bush! We were driving towards Seronera, after passing the spectacular Musabi plain. We suddenly spotted a Leopard very close to the track about 10 metres ahead of us.
Viewing the leopard as it disappeared into the darkness; something caught our eyes just five metres ahead. On closer inspection we saw that it was a dead Zebra. We could see claw marks on its neck and face. The zebra's stomach also showed signs of it being fed on.
A guide from another company told us that he saw a leopard feeding on the zebra, when he got closer with his vehicle, the leopard ran off. Everyone was wondering if the leopard actually managed to kill a fully grown Zebra. The mysteries of nature.
