Wild Dog (African Painted Dog)
The previous night we had seen two wild dogs chase a leopard up a dead tree but the wild dogs were not successful and the leopard managed to get away - quite an exciting moment but it was too dark to take photographs. This morning we got to see 3 of the wild dogs and the one was badly hurt on the upper front leg area. The guides told us that they had killed a wharthog the night before and the wharthog tusk must have penetrated when bringing the animal down. We hope the dog is going to recover as it seemed in pretty bad shape, the way it was limping.
