Kirkman's Kamp
Kirkman's Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness and the Sabi Sand River, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920's Kirkmans Kamp celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead.

Wild Dog badly injured
A group of four Wild Dogs have been seen this morning on the Kirkman’s Property. First we thought they would be on a hunt, moving towards a group of Impala. As we noticed the Alpha male had a chunk of meat missing on his chest. We all presume it might have been from one of his prey species kicking him or from a fight with another predator. With an injured front left he started running as a hyaena appeared in the scene. The rest of the pack wasn’t afraid of the spotted enemy. They cornered the hyaena to attack it. A couple of seconds later another two Hyaenas arrived and the situation changed completely. All four dogs took off running through the thicket, the Hyaenas now chasing them. We followed the predators for over two kilometres. Slowly the gap between the dogs and the Hyaenas got bigger even with the one injured dog in the pack. Eventually the incredible running condition of the dogs paid out and they snuck away. We hope the injured Alpha Dog will survive the next couple of days to get better and maybe start dening with the rest of the pack on Kirkman’s Property.
