WILD DOGS FEEDING ON AN ELEPHANT
During the morning game drive on 31st of May, we came across an elephant that was lying down on the dry river bank with its legs moving. After watching the wild dogs for a long time, they rushed into the bushes. We decided to go to the other road to meet with them. When we got down to the dry river bed we saw the elephant which seemed to have been sleeping. To our surprise the elephant did not move much. All of a sudden the dogs arrived. They started moving around the elephant and we wondered why the it did not get up to chase the dogs away. We decided to stay longer to see what was going to happen. While we were there the dogs started biting on the large beast. We realised that the elephant had been sick. We stayed there for about 2 hours. The dogs retreated into the shade and left the elephant alone. We left the scene and went back to camp. We came back in the afternoon and found the dogs full of blood through the skin. We left in the evening since the Savute park has a curfew…
