Immersed in monkey-rich forest, Kichwa Tembo is an opulent oasis of Hemingway-style tents with sweeping views of the greatest grassland system in the world - the exquisite Masai Mara. Kichwa Tembo Bateleur Camp is a smaller, exclusive camp adjacent to the main camp.
WILD DOGS IN THE MASAI MARA
It is amazing to see that hunting dogs are back in the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Yesterday, two of these dogs spent the whole day under clear shade and late afternoon they killed an impala about six hundred meters in front of Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. Today we drove along the marsh area where we found the Kichwa pride (9 lions) lying in tall grass. We watched them for at least 20 minutes and some youngsters (almost 1.5 years old) started to cross the road for shade. Suddenly, one lioness stared at the left side of the road, started to run, and caught a warthog! Another lioness joined her, and caught a second warthog! Everything was over in 30 seconds! We couldn’t believe what was happening around us! What a day!
