Madikwe
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

Wild dogs,Rhino and Wildebeest
We where out on drive and as always hoping to see the wild dogs, we had almost given up when we got a call that they had been found. They where moving so where where put in a position to wait for them. we where all looking in the direction they where going to come from, when i looked to my left and saw 2 huge white rhino bulls loooking at us only 10 meters away and closing. So we watched the rhino for a minute when the dogs started coming down the road towards, one at a time, by this stage there was a herd of wildebeest behind us. So about 3 of the dogs run up to the wildebeest when suddenly the whole herd come charging so the 3 dogs backed off, a minute later there where about 16 dogs, being chased by the wildebeest, as well as the 2 rhino who had now found a 1 metre stick which he had in his mouth and was beating the ground with, all within 20m of us. this all went on for about 30 minutes, at this stage we had a beautifull sunset and with that all dissappered as if nothing had ever happened.
