Xaranna
&Beyond's Xaranna Tented Camp is situated near a permanent channel of the Okavango Delta in 25 000 hectares of pristine wilderness that is shared by only 18 guests. The Camp boasts breathtaking views of the channel, providing guests with a water and wilderness experience that combines the best of what the Okavango has to offer. Birders should watch out for the elusive Pel's fishing owl, while the endangered African wild dog and semi-aquatic red lechwe are endemic to the area. |

This morning has been an exceptionally lovely day. There were at least a thousand buffaloes running around in a circle. They were afraid of the lions which were almost on both sides of the area.

Xaranna transfers to and from the airstrip are mainly by boat. Today, on the way to camp from the airstrip an elephant decided to block our path, which we did not mind at all.

We saw plumes of dust above the grass line. Our first reaction was that it was an aardvark excavating or zebra dust bathing. We were very excited to investigate. On coming closer to the plumes of dust we saw two dark shapes, one digging frantically and the other busy pinning something down. With a quick look through the binoculars we all came to the...
